"This sock ensemble is designed to transfer moisture from the skin to the boot, to provide insulation from heat and cold, to provide "stand-off" from the boot, to decrease friction on the skin, to prevent blisters, and to prevent lace irritation on the top of the foot."
These
socks should be worn with the nap facing out so
the smooth surface of the outer sock is against
the smooth outer side of the liner sock.
This provides a low coefficient of friction
between the socks, not on the skin surface to
help prevent blisters.
There
is a misconception that you need thin socks in
the heat of the summer. Thick socks
provide insulation from heat as well as from
cold. Evaporative cooling occurs from the
liner sock into the nap of the thick sock so the
skin surface stays cool & dry.
With
this three-sock ensemble, fit the boots over the
Coolmax liner and the Heavyweight boot sock
first. If you need to wear the Lightweight
boot sock adjust the inside volume of the boot
with a Poron® insole.
Remember
that sock density and thickness is determined by
body weight plus load plus environment.
This three-sock ensemble is designed to provide
you with a wide range of use. Use the Load-Temperature
Chart to select the proper "Environmental
Sock System".
